Common Oven and Stove Repair Problems

The oven is one of the most important appliances in your kitchen. Most things you cook are done so with an oven or stove top. As indestructible as ovens seem, it is possible for them to break down. Here’s a look at some of the most common oven and stove repair problems you should watch out for. Unfortunately, most of these aren’t problems you can fix by yourself. It’s always best to call in the experts when you need oven and stove repair

  1. Oven Doesn’t Hold Heat
If the oven won’t hold temperature then one simple solution is to adjust the temperature. If it isn’t staying hot, then try turning the temperature up higher. It’s a simple fix and it won’t last forever, but it can keep your oven going until you can consult an expert.
  2. Oven Won’t Turn On
Given the risk of electric shock, you should never attempt a voltage check on your own. The oven not turning on could be caused by problems with the control, baking elements, broken wires, or not enough power being supplied to an electric oven. With a gas oven it could be a problem with the gas control, gas valve, or gas igniter.
  3. Light Doesn’t Work
It could be as simple as a broken bulb that can be replaced easy enough. If replacing the bulb doesn’t work, then it could be a problem with the light switch, electronic control, or connecting wire. Either way, it involves electrical work and that’s something you should never attempt on your own. Just call your friendly neighborhood oven repair service and let us take care of it.
  4. Oven Doesn’t Self-Clean
If you’ve got a self-cleaning oven that refuses to self-clean, then there could be a few reasons for the problem. It might be a broken wire, clock failure, or a bad door switch or lock assembly. This is another problem that you shouldn’t try to tackle on your own.
  5. Rust
No matter how clean you keep your oven, it will inevitably rust. Cooking and moisture will eventually take their toll on your oven. Unfortunately, repairing the damage caused by severe rust is cost prohibitive. It’s best to just replace the oven at that point. So take good care of your oven and clean up rust as best as you can to prolong its lifespan.
  6. Fallen Rack
If there are problems with the internal cavity of your oven – and it is covered by the warranty or maintenance agreement – then give us a call to see what we can do. If the damage isn’t covered, then repairing it could become so expensive that it would be better to replace the oven. We’ll always give you our honest opinion on this matter.

Give the experts a call if you need any help with your oven. The problem with ovens is that so few of the problems associated with them can be handled by yourself – and even less of them should be. Always call the experts when you’re facing an oven repair problem.
